Due to the high population density, air pollution and lower income structure in Asian countries, light vehicles have long shaped the cityscape there.
With electrification, many new vehicle concepts are being developed in Asia, and with success!
For example, the newcomer Hongguang Mini EV from SAIC-GM-Wuling leads the global sales charts for electric vehicles, although it is currently only sold in China, the world's largest car market.
At a price equivalent to around €5,000, the Mini offers space for four people, a range of 120 kilometers and a top speed of 100 km/h. Sure, the price is a challenge, but the potential is clear. And so the Asians are now pushing into the European market. Not only with electric light vehicles, but above all with the battery components.
The LEV developments by German engineers are far better, safer and more stylish. The only problem is that the LEV developers in this country lack capital and more political support.
The market data from the Bicycle Industry Association (ZIV) shows that the LEV industry also has great potential in this country. According to this, 167,000 cargo bikes, 120,000 of which were electric, were sold in Germany in 2021. This represents growth of 62 percent compared to the previous year.
The figures show that consumers are certainly
are willing to leave their car at home more often
and to use alternative vehicles that allow the individual transport of children, shopping or
loads.
Costs seem to play a minor role
to play, because the purchase price of a cargo bike is on average 10,000-12,000 €.
How much potential a car-like vehicle has,
which does not offer the same comfort as a
car, but cheaper to buy
and is in maintenance, one can easily imagine.
