The event brought together numerous players from the LEV industry to learn about the current developments and potential of the LEV industry and to exchange ideas about possible cooperations. On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the exciting workshop "New Mobility - Opportunities and Challenges of Light Electric Vehicles" took place in the SAP Data Space in Berlin, organized by ReTraBetz-BB. The event brought together numerous players from the LEV industry to learn about the current developments and potential of the LEV industry and to exchange ideas about possible cooperations. The event was moderated by network manager Maren Petry.
Our cluster manager Annette Eni kicked things off with a captivating presentation on the latest trends and developments in the LEV sector. She presented an impressive variety of innovative electric light vehicles and highlighted the potential of this promising industry. At the same time, she pointed out current challenges, such as the lack of standardization and the lack of political support, which are currently hindering the growth of the LEV industry.
In order to make electric light mobility a practical experience, LEVi offered participants the opportunity to test and experience various LEVs first-hand. The vehicles on display included:

Co-Founder Torben Müller-Hansen of Hopper Mobility and finally cluster manager Torben Voelmy representing founder Pascal Löser from Helikon Bike. The presentations underlined the innovative power and potential of the LEV industry and offered numerous starting points for future cooperation.

The test drives offered the participants of the event the opportunity to marvel at the performance and versatility of the e-light vehicles and to share the enthusiasm for electric light mobility.

In-depth panel discussion and lively exchange
At the end of the event, a panel discussion was held, moderated by Christian Heinrich, Cluster Manager VML at Berlin Partner. The discussion included Dr. Julius Menge, head of the "Commercial Transport and Long-Distance Transport" group of the Senate Department for the Environment, Mobility, Consumers and Climate Protection, Managing Director Andreas Brüning of isicargo GmbH and Carina Heinz from the German Institute of Urban Affairs (Difu) and COO Supergreen GmbH as well as BD Velotaxi. The panelists discussed in depth the opportunities and challenges of the LEV industry, including the necessary regulatory framework and standardization. These discussions offered valuable insights and were supplemented by contributions from the audience.
The exchange continued at the subsequent networking lunch, where participants had the opportunity to deepen their discussions in an informal atmosphere and make new contacts.
Conclusion and Outlook
The workshop took place in a pleasant and manageable setting, which encouraged intensive discussions and the exchange of ideas. The event made it clear that electric light mobility is a promising future industry with great potential. Investments in research and development as well as in the exchange of knowledge on the part of suppliers are therefore extremely worthwhile. A key finding of the workshop was that the future of mobility can only be shaped sustainably through collective action.
