Even fourth-graders learn how to behave correctly in traffic in elementary school. They learn the basics of traffic regulations and learn how to ride a bike safely through playful tasks. 🚴♀️
From the age of 14, young people are allowed to ride e-scooters. But who teaches them the right behavior? Here are a few rules for using e-scooters:
Where can I drive?
How many people are allowed on an e-scooter?
One person may use the e-scooter. Passengers are not permitted. The permissible total weight of the vehicle must also be observed, as the vehicle's load capacity is limited.
Ab welchem Alter darf man E-Scooter fahren?
From the age of 14, the use of e-scooters on public roads is permitted.
How fast can an e-scooter go?
The maximum permitted speed for a road-legal e-scooter is 20 km/h. The law allows a tolerance of 10%, meaning that the vehicles can only reach a maximum of 22 km/h on the speedometer. German manufacturers in particular are making use of this flexibility, so that you can also travel quickly with an e-scooter.
Where can an e-scooter be parked?
E-scooters can be parked anywhere where they do not hinder others or block paths. Since this is not always clearly visible, we advocate clearly defined parking areas for small electric vehicles.
Does an e-scooter have to be insured?
Yes, there is a compulsory insurance requirement for small electric vehicles that are used on public roads. An annual insurance sticker, which is attached to the vehicle as a license plate, is available from an insurer of your choice. This is always valid from March 1st to the last day of February of the following year.
Together with Electric Empire - Federal Association of Small Electric Vehicles, the Federal Association for Electric Mobility (BSM) and you in Berlin at the New Mobility Parade, we would like to prove that this works and is even a lot of fun!
