On the occasion of Car Free Day, the Federal Association for Small Electric Vehicles eV "Electric Empire", the bsm - Federal Association for Electricity Mobility and the LEVi Innovation Cluster invite you to the first New Mobility Parade in Berlin on September 21, 2024.
The associations have been campaigning for a transport transition with light electric vehicles (LEV) for years and want to use their demonstration to draw attention to the opportunities and possibilities in the transport transition with light, electric vehicles.
Transport Transition with LEV
Electric light vehicles are resource-saving, efficient and particularly environmentally friendly due to their low consumption; when powered by electricity from renewable energies, they are almost free of harmful emissions. In addition, they are quiet and take up little space. The joint parade across Berlin is intended to educate citizens about the diverse possibilities of a transport transition with light, electric vehicles and to inform them about alternative vehicle concepts.
Political demands
Politically, the associations are calling for concrete incentives to be created so that more people switch to an electric light vehicle. These include the creation of free LEV parking spaces, special LEV lanes and consideration of the GHG quota.
Furthermore, they see a need for action in the registration regulations, such as the EU-compliant legalization of certain vehicle groups, and the need to check driving authorization, along with the introduction of a driving safety test for small e-vehicles by accredited transport associations, schools and the police.
The joint demand paper will be published at the final rally and handed over to the Ministry of Transport.
event and closing rally
The meeting and assembly point is the Platz der Luftbrücke. From there, the tour will take a 20 km circuit through the city. After the demo, the final rally will take place on the Platz der Luftbrücke, to which political representatives and industry experts are invited. Spectators will have the opportunity to take a closer look at the various vehicles and to talk to users.

Car Free Day is a day on which the use of automobiles and other motor vehicles is to be restricted.
In the 1950s and 1970s, the authorities decreed car-free days when there was a threat of a shortage of oil supplies. Since the end of the 1980s, Car-Free Day has been a day of action linked to the demand for a change in transport, initiated and supported by various organizations and environmental associations. It takes place annually on September 22nd.
The idea of not using a car for one day a year is already supported by almost all countries in the European Union and by most municipalities and cities. At the moment, this day of action is intended to raise awareness of climate-friendly mobility and support the demand for an environmentally friendly transport transition.
Thousands of municipalities in Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria, as well as in other countries, have issued similar calls. Many cities and towns are closing their centers to all motorized traffic for the duration of this day, giving priority to bicycles and pedestrians, and supporting the idea by offering free public transport, among other things.
