Car Free Day is a day on which the use of automobiles and other motor vehicles is to be restricted.
In the 1950s and 1970s, the authorities decreed car-free days when there was a threat of a shortage of oil supplies. Since the end of the 1980s, Car-Free Day has been a day of action linked to the demand for a change in transport, initiated and supported by various organizations and environmental associations. It takes place annually on September 22nd.
The idea of not using a car for one day a year is already supported by almost all countries in the European Union and by most municipalities and cities. At the moment, this day of action is intended to raise awareness of climate-friendly mobility and support the demand for an environmentally friendly transport transition.
Thousands of municipalities in Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria, as well as in other countries, have issued similar calls. Many cities and towns are closing their centers to all motorized traffic for the duration of this day, giving priority to bicycles and pedestrians, and supporting the idea by offering free public transport, among other things.

Together with Electric Empire and the bsm, LEVi wants to use the Car Free Day as an opportunity and set 21 September 2024 for a New Mobility Parade to demonstrate alternative electric light vehicles in order to inform and educate citizens about the diverse possibilities of a transport transition with light, electric vehicles.
On a 20-kilometer circuit through Berlin, we ride with electric ease over the Ku'damm, around the Victory Column, through the Brandenburg Gate and back via Getraudenstraße and Mehringdamm to the starting point at Platz der Luftbrücke.
The meeting and starting point is at 2:00 p.m. at the “Platz der Luftbrücke” next to the Airlift Memorial.
At the final rally at Platz der Luftbrücke, political representatives and other organizations are invited to present their ideas and positions for advancing the transport transition and we will express our demands, such as a reorganization of traffic, the necessary revision of registration regulations for electric light vehicles, the establishment of free LEV parking spaces and an LEV lane.
